Build other projects persist problem

Jeff-151
I'm trying to use the 'Build other projects' option but the settings do
not persist.

I goto Project 'XYZ' and select 'Configure'

I then check 'Build other projects' and I add the text: atest, btest

I hit the save button, and I'm taken back to the project page.

I click 'Configure' again but the 'Build other projects' checkbox is not
selected, and if I check it the text box is also empty.

Other options such as 'E-mail Notification Recipients', 'Record Japex
test report' persist without a problem.

Has anyone else seen this problem with Build other projects?

thanks,

jeff

Hmm. Does the log leave any messages? Which version of Hudson do you use?

All of them are implemented by using the same technique, so I wonder why
there's such a behavior difference.

Found the problem with the Build other projects persist problem not saving.

I have a project called 'Edata' but when I hit the checkbox for Build
other projects I put in 'edata' in the TextField
On save, the data is silently reverted to nothing, since no lowercase
edata project exists in Hudson.

Could you add a validation error, that the project was not found?

thanks,

jeff

Done. Will be in 1.63. I added string edit distance support so that if
you type in something incorrect, it suggests you a likely name.

I guess we should go through the form fields and check if as many of
them have form validation as possible.

Re: Build other projects persist problem

Vladimir Sizikov
Hi,

Sorry for a stupid question, but would it be better if instead of
TestFields with validation and all that jazz there were drop-down
lists, that way there will be no chances to make an error. :)

For somebody with perfect memory it doesn't matter much, but for me a
mental effort to remember the name is much bigger than an effort to
look and the list of available jobs to select the proper one.

Thanks,

It's just that a drop-down list would only let you enter one item,
where the configuration allows you to have multipe project names (by
using ',' as the separator) --- this is often needed, for example if
you have 3 kinds of tests or something.

I agree that the form validation isn't too useful especially when you
don't remember the job names. I have the same problem --- I keep
forgetting whether it was jax-ws-ri, jaxws-ri, jaxwsRI, or etc.

It might be possible to provide drop-down auto-completion for this, in
such a way that it works correctly with multi-project entries.
