Can I add jobs for plugins on the public Hudson instance?

Christoph Kutzinski
Is there a way to add jobs for my own plugins on the 'Hudson on Hudson'
(http://ci.hudson-labs.org/) instance under the plugin tab?

For now, just email the list and say which plugins you want builds set up for, and I'll take it from there.

Okay, then can I have it for downstream-ext, instant-messaging, ircbot and jabber, please?

Thanks a lot,

seems like the instant-messaging-parent module, which I introduced
recently, is also needed to build the IM plugins successfully.
Could you add it please, too?

Also: it is possible to set up the jobs to mail me at
[hidden email], if they're failing/unstable?

Done and done - the emails will go to committers/culprits, so I can standardize that across all plugin build configs, if that's ok.

Also, I updated http://wiki.hudson-ci.org/display/HUDSON/Hosting+Plugins in re: CI builds on ci.hudson-labs.org for plugins. Now I just need to get the Github directions up there too... =)

In reply to this post by Andrew Bayer
Thanks again.

I've noticed that there's probably a clock difference between the Hudson
server and the SVN server, because of many builds which are 'triggered
by an SCM change', but then have 'no changes'.

Is there something which can be done against this?
Maybe this is finally a good reason to fix
http://issues.hudson-ci.org/browse/HUDSON-1241 ;-)

Re: Can I add jobs for plugins on the public Hudson instance?

Christoph Kutzinski
I also see that the dependencies of the plugins don't seem to be
recognized, correctly.

instant-messaging, ircbot and jabber have all a parent dependency to
instant-messaging-parent - that one is recognized correctly.
However, jabber and ircbot have also a dependency to instant-messaging
and that is for some reason not recognized.

Any idea why this is happening?
Maybe the 'hudson_all_plugins' is given precedence for some reason.

Re: Can I add jobs for plugins on the public Hudson instance?

Andrew Bayer
Working on the clock skew - we've got a cronjob to theoretically keep the time in sync but it may not be working properly.

I'm guessing that hudson_all_plugins is messing with the fingerprint relationships - I set up hudson_all_plugins as a Maven job largely so that we could easily get per-plugin results, but yeah, I don't want it tainting the relationship between the sub-plugin jobs. I'm trying a tweak now, changing the hudson_all_plugins job to use a private repository, so that the per-plugin jobs shouldn't be picking up the artifacts built in hudson_all_plugins. We'll see if that helps.

Re: Can I add jobs for plugins on the public Hudson instance?

vlatombe
Andrew, I don't think it matters, in maven mode, every produced artifact is hashed. (I have the same problem within my infrastructure, and every job use a private repository)
What's missing may be an option in m2 jobs to avoid hashing.

I also see that the dependencies of the plugins don't seem to be recognized, correctly.

instant-messaging, ircbot and jabber have all a parent dependency to instant-messaging-parent - that one is recognized correctly.
However, jabber and ircbot have also a dependency to instant-messaging and that is for some reason not recognized.

Any idea why this is happening?
Maybe the 'hudson_all_plugins' is given precedence for some reason.

Is there something which can be done against this?

In any case, I just want bonkers, deleted hudson_all_plugins, and added all plugins from plugins/pom.xml as individual jobs, so hey. =)

Nord, James

Hi Andrew,

Looking at the jobs it doesn’t appear that the plug-in are using a private maven repository which is asking for trouble as the maven local repo is not multi process safe :-/

Also as Hudson has done some bad things with the parent modules in the recent past there is no way to ensure that the CI job is using the latest – or what others will actually get / download from repo.glassfish.org
