How do I get the Maven project type (alpha) to present the clover plugin?

Is this something that needs to be done in the core, or do I just
implement another interface?

You need a separate class that extends from MavenReporter. It can then
listen to the mojo execution and when you detected that clover plugin
run, you can collect any information you need from there and do things
like contributing an action.

I think MavenJavadocArchiver would be a good example, because this does
something similar. It kicks in automatically when javadoc mojo runs.
