How to get variables from resource file

Deepan Divakar
Hi,
I need to get the variables for BUILDNUMBER, JOBNAME etc from a properties file. Is it possible to do that? If yes,m how do I go about specifying the properties file so that Hudson picks it up and displays the same in the browser..
So essentially I want the Build History to display a custom label eg : Test_today instead of the usual #x

Thanks in advance to any inputs regarding this matter.
Regards,
Deepan

I guess I'm not really sure what you are trying to do. Are you trying
to run the build outside Hudson, and just submit the result?

IOW is it like an external job monitoring kinda feature?

Basically, I need to change the build numbers to a custom label that I used for the run. For example in the results pages, instead of #39 I would like to display something like PRODUCT_LINUX_05092007 (this is the kind of labels we use with our custom built source control)..
Thanks for all your help.
