Another test (on another project with the same problem). The log:

$ svn info --xml src
[src] $ svn update -q --non-interactive  --username  fabriziogiudici
$ svn info --xml src
Revision:1399
no change for src since the previous build
[src] $ ant clean build
Buildfile: build.xml

Indeed the latest revision was 1409.

Then I tried this with the command line:

[tomcat@www workspace]$ svn info src
Path: src
URL: https://bluemarine.dev.java.net/svn/bluemarine/trunk/src
Repository Root: https://bluemarine.dev.java.net/svn/bluemarine

[tomcat@www workspace]$ cd src
[tomcat@www src]$ svn update -q --non-interactive  --username  fabriziogiudici
[tomcat@www src]$ cd ..
[tomcat@www workspace]$ svn info src
Path: src

And it worked. So looks like there's a difference between the way Hudson ran it
and the way I ran it.

May I suggest to create a test version and remove the "-q" switch (BTW, I
suppose that it can be removed even in production, a few more lines on the
console won't make any harm).
