Jira plugin - can it file new issues?

Kirk True-3
Hi all,

I'm having a bit of trouble determining what it is that the Jira plugin
does...

What we're looking for is a way to add/update a Jira entry for each Junit
test case failure. That is, when a unit test fails (or errors), an entry in
our Jira is updated if present, or created if it's a new failure.

Does the Jira plugin do this? Do you think this a reasonable addition if it
doesn't?

Thanks,
Kirk

See http://hudson.gotdns.com/wiki/display/HUDSON/JIRA+Plugin

It doesn't do that now. I think something like that could be
interesting, but I don't think I have time to do this any time soon. If
you'd be interested in writing a patch, that would be great. Otherwise
please file an RFE in the issue tracker.

Personally, I don't know if I'd use it, though. I think it's a good idea
to associate a failure with a JIRA issue, like an easy web UI for filing
an issue or automatically marking an issue closed when the test starts
running. But not every test failure is worth a new JIRA issue, isn't it.
(Or maybe are we talking about the same thing?)
