Oracle App Server

Timothy Spring
Hi,

Does anyone have any experience deploying to Oracle App Server? (OC4J?)

I've deployed the hudson.war and it claims to have deployed successfully, but when I bring it up in a browser, I get a blank screen.

Here's the oc4j-hudson~1.log contents:

See
http://www.nabble.com/forum/Search.jtp?forum=16872&local=y&query=oc4j
for the past oc4j related issues.

I wonder if there's anyway for me to get my hands on oc4j. Otherwise
it's very hard to see what's going on.

Hi,

You can download standalone versions of OC4J here:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/index.html

Also, Jdeveloper (free download) has OC4J embedded.

Any help appreciated,
Regards
Timothy Spring

Thanks. I'm downloading it. I hope it's easy to set up...

Building with cvsgrab on windows

Timothy Spring
Hi,

I've managed to checkout the source code using cvsgrab (due to a
firewall) using the following command:

C:\temp\hudson_cvs>cvsgrab -webInterface FishEye1_2 -url
http://fisheye5.cenqua.com/browse/hudson/hudson -proxyHost proxy
-proxyPort 8080 -proxyUser xxxx -proxyPassword xxxx -proxyNTDomain xxxx
-destDir .

It couldn't download 19 files, but I continued, manfully.

As per http://hudson.gotdns.com/wiki/display/HUDSON/Building+Hudson

I cd'd into hudson/hudson and ran mvn install (using mvn-2.0.7). It
failed (stacktrace below). Is this me? The 19 files I couldn't retrieve
(in which case, is there something wrong with the repository?)

Any help suggestions appreciated.

The stcktrace follows:

The file in question is at
http://download.java.net/maven/2/org/jvnet/hudson/plugins/plugin/1.127/plugin-1.127.pom
, which is one of the locations that your Maven apparently attempted
to download (but failed)

So what you'd need to do is to find out why your Maven cannot download
this file --- perhaps you haven't configure Maven with a proxy?

In reply to this post by Timothy Spring
I really don't know much about cvsgrab, so can't say much about this problem.

I can start posting the image of the workspace along with the snapshot
build, so taht you can get the workspace just by downloading a zip
file if you want.

I'm embarassed to admit but, yes, it was an incorrectly configured
proxy.

Thanks for the reply.

The file in question is at
http://download.java.net/maven/2/org/jvnet/hudson/plugins/plugin/1.127/p
lugin-1.127.pom
, which is one of the locations that your Maven apparently attempted to
download (but failed)

So what you'd need to do is to find out why your Maven cannot download
this file --- perhaps you haven't configure Maven with a proxy?

RE: Re: Oracle App Server

Timothy Spring
In reply to this post by Kohsuke Kawaguchi
Hi,

I'm still struggling with this - I've managed to checkout the source and
build the war. I'm busy playing around with index.jelly file in
question, but no progress. The problem comes in with namespace
declarations as follows

<st:compress xmlns:j="jelly:core" xmlns:st="jelly:stapler"
xmlns:d="jelly:define" xmlns:l="/lib/layout" xmlns:t="/lib/hudson"
xmlns:f="/lib/form" xmlns:i="jelly:fmt">

The xmlns:l="/lib/layout" is the declaration causing problems. (And I
assume xmlns:t, xmlns:f)

Anyone with ANY advice on correcting this?

Thanks,
T:

Thanks. I'm downloading it. I hope it's easy to set up...

It's surprising but the XML parser in oc4j wasn't conforming to the spec
and incorrect default value for a SAX feature. This was causing the failure.

I put a work around for this in 1.132.

If you have a simple test case I can create SR for this to point oracle
in this.

Thanks. The following code illustrates a test case:

factory = SAXParserFactory.newInstance();
factory.setNamespaceAware(true);
factory.setValidating(validating);
parser = factory.newSAXParser();
reader = getParser().getXMLReader();
assertFalse(reader.getFeature("http://xml.org/sax/features/namespace-prefixes"));

But Oracle XML parser fails the assertion, which is against the default
value as described in
http://www.saxproject.org/apidoc/org/xml/sax/package-summary.html

Yay! It's up and seems to be running fine.

Thanks for sorting it out.

FYI: I created a low priority servicerequest for this. I keep you
informed what Oracle says.

Re: Oracle App Server

Stephan Zeissler (KUTTIG)
Hi everyone,

after some looong discussion with the dev, the supporter from Oracle
finally created a bug for our problem: 6368690
As a workaround they suggest installing an alternative sax
implementation (by default its from oracle) as explained here:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/web.1013/b28952/classload.htm#CIHFJEEF

Yep. They should have just used more well-known XML parser (like JAXP RI
or Xerces) to begin with, IMO.

As I mentioned earlier, Hudson 1.132 contains a work around for this, so
Hudson can now run with oc4j out of the box.
