OutOfMemroyError

Tom Huybrechts
Hi all,

is anybody aware of memory leak issues with Hudson ?

I'm running Hudson v.113 since a few weeks. I have about 40 projects
configured (fresstyle, some Ant, mostly Maven) and I have one slave.

With the default Java memory settings, I can run Hudson for a few
days. but then I get OutOfMemoryErrors. With -Xmx256M it's almost a
week before the problems start.

We've not seen any, but we were only on v1.107 until today (now on
v1.115-SNAPSHOT - for the weather reports like)

About twenty projects (some with over 1000 builds and one with nearly
4000 builds) (freestyle Maven and three freestyle Ant) running on Java
1.5.0_11, Tomcat 5.5.17 and Apache 2.0.53

Me too. I did not keep track of the frequency, but it feels like about a week or so before I have to restart the Hudson server.

My setup is:
- Hudson
  - 1.107-SNAPSHOT (since May 23rd)
  - 3 free style projects (10-20 builds in a day)
- JVM
  - Sun 1.5
  - default max heap size (64MB?)

I monitor my production Hudson with visualgc, which has some 300 jobs,
but I haven't spotted any memory leak. The memory consumption never goes
above 1GB.

Any chance you can get a profiler and capture memory snapshot, and send
it to me?

For example YourKit java profiler has 30 day evaluation license, and it
can capture the entire objects into a single file.

I've enabled -XX:+HeapDumpOnOutOfMemoryError. I'll post it in a few days...

Thanks. I believe I fixed this in 1.117.

Re: OutOfMemroyError

Thanks, I wish all open source developers responded this quickly :)
I'll upgrade and see if that helps...
