Perforce/Slave Configuration

Hansen, Nick

To whom it may concern:

I am running Hudson as a master on my windows box and it has 3 linux slaves.  Every time I try to trigger a build from my Master to one of the slaves I get this error:

Started by user anonymous

Building remotely on Fedora Slave

Performing sync with Perforce for: //depot/CDMA/Mainline/...

Changing client to nick1-localhost

Caught Exception communicating with perforce. No output for: p4 workspace -o nick1-localhost FATAL: Unable to communicate with perforce. No output for: p4 workspace -o nick1-localhost

java.io.IOException: Unable to communicate with perforce. No output for: p4 workspace -o nick1-localhost

        at hudson.plugins.perforce.PerforceSCM.checkout(PerforceSCM.java:368)

        at hudson.model.AbstractProject.checkout(AbstractProject.java:803)

        at hudson.model.AbstractBuild$AbstractRunner.checkout(AbstractBuild.java:314)

        at hudson.model.AbstractBuild$AbstractRunner.run(AbstractBuild.java:266)

        at hudson.model.Run.run(Run.java:928)

        at hudson.model.Build.run(Build.java:112)

        at hudson.model.ResourceController.execute(ResourceController.java:93)

        at hudson.model.Executor.run(Executor.java:118)

Can you please help me figure out what is wrong?

Thanks

Re: Perforce/Slave Configuration

German Borbolla
It seems like a connectivity problem, can you see you perforce host from the slaves? Have you tried using perforce outside of the slaves, ie 'p4 login'?

Are you running multiple builds on the slave?. Few months back when I was exploring perforce plugin, I remember running into lot of issues with multi configuration project with perforce plugin and I've patched perforce plugin & customized to our needs.

https://hudson.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=2062

Since you mentioned, one or the other slave is having problem, I suspect the above bug.

Recently lot of improvements were made at perforce plugin and I believe this bug is fixed in the source tree. But the newer version of plugin isn't produced yet...

thanks,
-Vijayan.
