Promote build when... option not shown in job config

Chris White
Are there any requirements on a job for when the 'Promote build when...' is shown / hidden for a job in Jenkins?

I have the plugin installed (2.31), Jenkins has been restarted but for my given job (a pipeline scm job) i don't see the option to configure the promotion process in the job configuration page (I do see an option for 'Build when another project is promoted').

I'm must be missing something obvious, any clues on where to look?

Thanks

Pipeline does not currently support promotion, so you will not see the option to configure. (Though I wonder if the Jenkinsfile had a properties step could it maybe work - this would depend on the base class the promotion plugin assumes jobs extend from as pipeline doesn’t extent from as deep in the hierarchy as all other jobs)

I don’t know if adding support for promotion if pipelines is on the roadmap for the promotion plugin

I see, how frustrating - isn't pipelines meant to be where Jenkins is encouraging people to move towards - 'Pipelines as code'

For future reference for people finding this:
