Releasing a plugin - where to enter my CVS password for maven

Ulli Hafner-2
Hi,

I tried to release an initial version of the findbugs plugin yesterday
(using the command fromthe tutorial:  mvn -Djava.net.id=myjavanetid
release:prepare release:perform), but maven complained about a missing
CVS login. Where can I set my CVS password for maven? Or is it really
required to have a CVS client installation on my Windows PC?

Thanks, Ulli

Ulli,

first, I'm surprised about the question about the cvs installation
because I doubt you could have gone so far without having it in the
first place. or did you ?
anyway, you'll need to create a .java.net file as described here
https://javanettasks.dev.java.net/nonav/maven/config.html
I'm not sure what the location would have to be on windows as it
surely varies depending on the version.( C:\Users\myUser on vista,
C:\Documents and settings\myUser on previous versions ?)

in my experience on Linux, I needed to have checked out the whole
hudson project with the proper login, meaning don't check out as guest
and then try the commit wth your identity.

it is allegedly not painless and is the subject of another mail
thread. feel free to contribute your experience.

hth,

Well, actually I use Eclipse to checkout and checkin
my sources, so I don't yet have a CVS client installed.
(And I thought maven could handle this without a CVS client?)
