build fail with due to CVS Login error (.cvspass well defined)

Laurent_Rorive

Hi,

I used Hudson on Linux (Fedora Core 6)
I configured my hudson to use the CVS (it retrieve the .cvspass ) from the /tmp directory. (I created a file /tmp/.cvspass)

Then I create a job "Build a free-style software project"
Then I enter my connection string to cvs with the module.

Each time Hudson build the module , it fails, here is the log :

started
[Archivage-building] $ cvs -Q -z3 -d :pserver:[hidden email]:/mnt/volaaa co -d workspace -D "Monday, August 20, 2007 12:06:17 PM UTC" Archivage
cvs checkout: authorization failed: server xlnx02.fmsb.be rejected access to /mnt/volaaa for user f9696
cvs checkout: used empty password; try "cvs login" with a real password
FATAL: CVS failed. exit code=1
Publishing Javadoc
Recording test results
No test report files were found. Configuration error?
Sending e-mails to: [hidden email]
finished: FAILURE

I check the content of the .cvspass and this is correct ?

I also try this on Windows and I got the same problem
Unfortunately I can not create an anonymous access on the CVS

Any Idea ?

Thanks for your fast answer.

Are you telling Hudson to use "/tmp/.cvspass" or just "/tmp" ?

Hi try both "/tmp/.cvspass and just /tmp to see if it can retrieve the .cvspass mention but it does not work.?

Is there another way to pass the password or ?

Thanks

I checked the doc and CVS_PASSFILE is supposed to point to a file, not a
directory, so it should be "/tmp/.cvspass", I guess. I improved form
validation in 1.133 to report an error if you set a directory.

When you set just "/tmp", did cvs give you a different error message?

No.

Another thing you should try is to run "hudson.scm.CVSSCM.debug=true;"
from the scripting console (in the "manage Hudson" page) and then run
the build. This will invoke cvs with the trace option, and I think you
should get lots of outputs.

Another possibility is that the file is indeed being read but the
authentication information in there is simply wrong.

FYI

I found the response to this question, this can be much more simpler:

Since cvs 1.11.1, CVSROOT can have this form

:pserver:[[user][:password]@]host[:[port]]/path

Thanks for your effort
