email test results

ruel loehr

I’m very interested in this issue:   https://hudson.dev.java.net/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=759

The description for which is:

It would be nice to have an e-mail every morning with the following output:

Number of tests passed: 400
Number of tests failed:  23

Diff since last succesfull build (6 hours ago)

Fixed:
nl.basenet.foo.Bar
nl.basenet.bar.Foo

Broken:
nl.basenet.util.Utils

I’m also willing to do the work if someone can give me some pointers on where to start and perhaps some very high level design suggestions.

Any takers?

If you really want an e-mail every morning, then I think the easiest way
to get to this is to write a separate plugin.

If you'd like to expand notification e-mail that Hudson sends to you
after a build, the e-mail ext plugin might already do what you need.

RE: Re: email test results

It's not necessarily when the email comes that is the issue.     That
can be configured with email-ext plugin as you specify.

The important piece is getting an email which details the results of the
unit tests.   I can't see any way to do that (correct me if am wrong)
with hudson today.

Maybe the email-ext can be expanded to somehow include the junit results
if specified?

That is something that is a goal for the email-ext plugin (make the
content and triggers extensible), but I haven't had much time to work on
it recently (open request for anyone who wants to help out).
