is there A way to assign a port to a slave build box

Hello All:

Is there a way to launch a slave on a box to always use a given port?

Thanks in advance.

Slaves don't need to listen on any particular TCP/IP port. It's the
server that listens, not the slaves.

So you want the outgoing socket to bind before connect? Why?

I need to be able to dispatch builds to multiple machines and as a
policy, IT folks in this env will only open and permit ports that are
pre assigned.

Thanks - Nick

Essentially I would like to do some this like this:

Java -jar slave.jar -jnlpUrl http://teamforge.abc.com:9443 /computer/nicholasgullr/slave-agent.jnlp

I can understand that for "inbound" ports used for accepting incoming
connections, but I've never heard that for outgoing ports.

Hudson master does open 1 TCP/IP port that it listens to, and that's
picked randomly. Are you trying to control this port?

Re: is there A way to assign a port to a slave build box

nicholasgullr
Yes. That would help my use case I believe.

Is this possible.?

Thanks

Nick

Yes. If you enable security, you'll see a bunch of additional option,
including fixing the port number.
