new multi-configuration job type is great!

Wolfram Kroll-2
Hi Kohsuke and others,

I just tried out the new multi-configuration job type a.k.a matrix
job type. This is great stuff! I've always had concerns with some
testing jobs we run. There we actually test a 2x2 matrix (two
products with 2 versions each). This comes with doubled configuration
code. I think I can reduce this duplication from now on. Really a
great enhancement!

Thanks. I'm sure there are a lot of room for enhancements there, so
please send us feedbacks.

Let me thank you for matrix project type as well, I think it will become one
of "killer" hudson features. As for room for enhancements, I see following
areas where it could be improved:
1. We miss the ability to build single subproject from the configuration
matrix - when something goes wrong with e.g. one slave from five, we usually
don't want to run all configurations again.
2. It would be nice if the main matrix project page looked similar to the one
of native Maven2 project - with weather status, build duration, etc... It
would be absolutely fantastic if there was a way how to compare results
across configurations - e.g. if  JUnitResultArchiver showed tests failing on
certain configuration only, success rate difference, and so forth.

I could possibly file an issue if you think it is worth it..

Sorry for the delay, but yes, please file issues. And also, now that I
know you've been hacking Hudson, any chance you can help improve the
matrix project?

No problem, it seems my mails tend to end up as a spam ...

I filled #749. I know it should be split into two issues, but the first part
with build link request is (hopefully) easy to fix..

Sure, I'd be delighted. I need to prepare the publishing plugin for release
first (well, among my other tasks), but this should be done soon.

No, not that. It's just that I get too many e-mails.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to seeing it. Did I give you the commit
access to the hudson repository?

All set. If you know any help in importing files, let me know.
