the dashboard page scripts eat up all the cpu

Arnaud LACOUR
Hi,

just out of curiosity, I wondered if any other fellow hudson user out
there saw this behaviour. If I keep one tab open on the hudson main
page, after a while a javascript loops and eats up all the cpu on my
box. All there is to do then is to close the tab.

I've seen this too (after several hours idle).  My solution is just
like yours -- close the tab.

I've seen that too that iexplorer.exe gets 99% CPU.

I get something similar in Firefox.  I get a dialog box saying something
about a script not being able to stop and the cpu is pegged.  I have to
kill the browser.

I'll take a crack at it with the js debugger to see where this comes
from. I suspect that it's the current build table refresh on the left.

This is reported as issue #352. If you can look into it, that's great.

AFAIK, the JavaScript code isn't doing anything tricky, so I suspect
it's just tickling Firefox in a wrong way.

Given the impact of this problem, maybe I should stop the ajax updater
for now.

If it were up to me, I'd leave it in.  It's very useful when you are
trying to monitor a build and it's easy not to leave a tab looking at
hudson when you're not.

Re: the dashboard page scripts eat up all the cpu

Arnaud LACOUR
I agree, while this is a little inconvenient to have to open the main
page everytime I need to go look at it, the benefits of having the
ajax stuff update the page live outweighs it. I'll look at it sunday.
